Benefit Social June 27, 2009, 8:00 p.m
What is the South Osborne Urban Community Cooperative (SOUCC) ? It
was established by two local Riverview residents, who
organized the
Food Drive
at Breakfast with Santa. The SOUCC endeavours to help
the urban community in South Osborne, including
Riverview, to take full advantage of the opportunities
that exist in supporting local agriculture, healthier,
more responsible growers and sustainable agricultural
practices. The SOUCC wants to bring together a variety
of growers from rural
Manitoba
and other areas of our city to help foster relationships
between our neighbours and these farmers.
Activities:
On June 27th, at
8:00pm
at the Riverview Community Centre, we are hosting a
fundraising beneft social. From 8 to 10 we'll be having
a quieter time, serving organic, carbon-neutral wine and
offering other selections of drinks for sale, and
introducing many of the growers we're partnering with
and giving our neighbours an opportunity to learn what
is going to happen at our markets. We'll be offering a
variety of raffle prizes including an Organic Wine
Tasting for 10, CDs by local musicians, work by local
artists, and gift certificates from many local
businesses. At
10 pm we're joined by two local bands who will play
until midnight.
Tickets are $ 10 and are available from Jesse or Evan
(contact info below) or from the community club at 90
Ashland..
This is a fundraiser, so we're hoping that many of you
would consider coming out and seeing what we have to
offer!
The Markets themselves will be held on
July 19th and August
16th. Stay tuned for more details! |
