The Riverview Carnival |
|
|
|
Once again thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate
spring at the annual Riverview Spring Carnival. It was
a great success! The splattering of rain during the day
and the cooler temperatures in the evening did not
dampen the spirits of the Riverview residents. It was
an evening to remember with all of the smiling faces on
the children, the voices of the Riverview school choir,
the evening of dancing with Big Bob and his Band and of
course the amazing fireworks.
There are so many tireless volunteers to thank after
such a wonderful evening. There were the people helping
out with the children's activities and races, the tweens
assisting with the penny carnival and all of the people
helping out at the bar. Thank you so much to all of
you! There are a few people in particular that we would
like to acknowledge by name as they worked many hours
before the carnival ensuring everyone and everything was
in its place. Thanks to Janelle Cancade-White for
organizing the volunteers for the children's activities,
thanks to Patti Ginter and Darcie Reimer for putting
together the penny carnival, thanks to Greg Stevens for
organizing the races, thanks to Mike Schultz for his
tired less efforts in setting up and thanks to Jason
Playter and Jamie Giasson for the incredible fireworks.
We would also like to acknowledge Carla Chandler and the
rest of the staff at the Riverview Community Club for
all of their hard work which contributed to the success
of the carnival. Thank you as well to Genny Gerbasi and
Diane McGifford for their donations.
The Spring Carnival is a fun event and it was our
pleasure to be able to be such a large part of it for
the past two years. We hope that the rest of the
Riverview Community enjoyed the evening as much as we
did.
The Carnival Committee: Diane Lee Sousa, Laura McMaster
and Darlene Stevens
ps We are passing the torch! Please let us know if you
are interested in planning the 2010 Carnival. We will
walk you through our flow chart.

Riverview Neighborhood Garage Sales
Saturday, June 13,
9am to 4pm
There are 4 ways you can help:
1. Hold a yard or garage sale at your own home on June
13th, and donate 10% of sales to RVCC. We will do all of
the advertising to bring shoppers to our neighbourhood.
2. Donate saleable goods to RVCC and they will be sold
at a 'garage' sale there on June 13th. You may drop off
garage sale goods at the community centre into the main
floor storage room, any day from
10 am
until
9pm.
All proceeds will go to the RVCC.
3. Volunteer to assist at the RVCC sale on June 11th,
12th or 13th for a few hours to help with a variety of
tasks, such as pricing, display, setting up, taking down
& packing, lifting & carrying boxes & furniture, clean
up, driving unsold boxes of goods to a specific
location.
4. Visit the sales for great bargains on treasures you
won't find in any shopping mall. Come find out why
Winnipeg
is known as 'the garage sale capital of
Canada'!
For further information or questions, please contact the
Garage Sale Coordinator, Steve Lennon 781-6549.
