Cross Country Skiing The
Riverview Community Club is home to a great ski club for children aged 5
to 12.
The Riverview Jackrabbits Cross-Country
Ski Club meets on Sundays from 1 to 2 p.m. from mid November until mid
March. The program is designed for fun; children learn developmental
skills and through games and play learn to enjoy and appreciate the
lifelong sport of cross-country skiing. Lessons include a warm up
session, a teaching component, games and plenty of opportunities to ski
and explore. Hot chocolate is served to all after each session, and
parents are encouraged to participate along with their children.
Sessions take place on groomed trails
behind the community club, as well as on Churchill Parkway.
Participants are responsible for providing their own equipment, however
the club does own a limited supply of equipment that is rented out to
participants.
The Jackrabbit Ski Program is affiliated
with Cross Country Canada (www.cccski.com) and the Cross Country Ski
Association of Manitoba (www.ccski.mb.ca)
Since the inception of Jackrabbit ski clubs nationally in 1980, over
125, 000 Canadian children have participated in Jackrabbit programs.
The registration fee is $50.00.
Registration occurs during the winter sports registration period.
As the Riverview Community Club supports the ski club, priority is given
to in-area (Riverview) residents. If you wish to learn more about
